Well she is in the season for half the season, so there will be some room for Clark. Apparently they have chosen Laura Vendervoort to play Super-girl. Also Clark is getting closer to his destiny but in someway he manages to stay away from it. Like when he gets his future cape in Action, he simply admires it and then leaves it hanging on the fence and walks away.

Like the Beatles going from their mop-tops to their transformation at Sgt. Pepper, why not (for season 8) roll the dice and go ten years in the future, change the name of the show from "Smallville" to "Metropolis", and have the characters take on a more mature air. This show has always been gambling with ideas, and though the innocence of the first four seasons of High school were just brilliant, I think this limbo period of "he's in training to be the future Superman" does not really lend itself to interesting stories that can be sustained. Granted, it is an area of the Superman legend that has not been explored, so it's fertile ground for drama, but to shoot the moon and take the characters, which we love, to the Man of Steel era would be exciting. Granted, the producers vowed that this would be a "no tights, no flight" series for Clark, but this series has had a great run, so why not just ramp it up and change it dramatically. Unfortunately, some network executive with a suit and tasseled loafers a Warner Brothers would be looking at demographics and would say nonsense in effect of "we can't lose our twenty-something base for this show" if we change it. I say, why not radically change it. Keep the relationships of the charaters, but change the time and setting. Anyway, eventually Tom is not going to pull off being an early twenty year old one of these days, so either quit on a good note or transform it and keep going.

I don't like the addition of Super Girl and here's why: she seems to be taking a lot of the focus off of Clark. He is supposed to begin his training and I think this is a crucial part of the legend. We never see how Clark becomes Superman. One day he's Clark and the next day he's flying. I want to see him learn to fly like Spider-man had to learn to use his webbing to fly from building to building. The practice was amusing. Also, Clark is supposed to be the only super HERO in Smallville. All the other good guys with powers were temporary (no names on the credits), but this actress seems to be here for the long haul. Only Clark should be as strong as Clark. This girl has more powers than him! He has to be the best in the world otherwise what's the point? Also, I was watching the Oct. 10th episode and the whole thing was based on Kara fitting into Smallville, with Clark acting as the father figure trying to get her to practice shooting fire beams from her eyes (reminiscent of Jonathan Kent). Clark and Lana reunite after her return from the grave and the story took a backseat to Kara's Smallville adventures. I mean this episode should have been huge! Clark and Lana discuss her knowledge of Clark's powers! How was this not treated accordingly?! Anyway, I think that the producers are laying the groundwork for a Super Girl spin-off and that is whay we are being subjected to this drivel. I mean really, there was only one Supergirl movie and it bombed!

I guess that I can't say much since I'am a big fan of smallville and the charaters on the show but if they killed off Lana on the show then why would they have older lana. Cause they show a few time in any superman story so she can't be dead.

I was hoping Supergirl would appear, sometime. I'm happy about that ( hopefully Clark's other powers will manifest more ..like flight.) I'm also hoping Lana and Clark figure things out, as I'd like to see Lois & Clark finally find each other. And it was great seeing Clark work with other super powered guys ( reminded me of Superboy working with the 30th Century Legion of Super Heroes....something I'd like to see on the screen )
I've always thought Kara-El, being Clark's cousin, is Zor-El's daughter ( not neice )...Zor-El being Jor-El's brother.

I don't think they killed (kicked) off anyone but jimmy, and the mom. I think clark should man up and start flying soon or at least super jumping. Also i heard rumors that this is the last season, if it is he better hook up with someone, and end it flying up into the clouds with her like in the old movies. The super girl should be Megan fox or Lacey Chabert (google her pics) i think they'll both fit the part good. Plus there both hot as hell.

Lana cant be with Clark it just wont happend we all know the deal in the end. I just dont think if they want to take out Lana..cmon let it be she desides to move some where else not die.. I think it will be neat to have Supergirl come in but what is up with all the stuff with lana and will she come in on a later in the season show or will she be out for the whole season and also will the truth be know who had blown up the car with Lois in it or did she get away from the blast or is she truely dead and will Lionel come out and show his true colors to be for clark or Kalal or will he show that he is truely on the side of Lex. Also will Clarks mom stay in Washington or will she go back to the farm. Also does he truely come to know what his father Kalal want him to do on earth or are we to assume that he is to take over the planet like his father keeps saying that is his purpose on this planet.

For those who wanted to know thw new season starts September 27 (Thursday). I think Supergirl is a good add to the show they may be just putting her in because obviously Lana will be gone for quite sometime and Chloe will either be dead or recovering so they need another girl to spice things up. Smallville is one of my addictions but im kind of getting tired of all this playing around lets see him save people and fly and please find someone or get back with Lana because its just sad to see Superman whining about not having Lana i mean comeon allready he could of had her so long ago i mean he asked her to marry him but she died and he went back in time and all that if i were the writers i would have made it so that Chloe tells Lana these things while she was with Lex and after she found out because frankly i would like to see how she takes it. i hope we get a very pleasing and action and happy season because last season was fun yet sad with mopy Clark sad about not having Lana. Overall i believe Supergirl is a good addition and im hoping she knows another kryptonian or friend (whos cute) that Clark can have something with lol. But last season left us on a big cliffhanger and im hoping to see how everything turns out and im also hoping that Clark gets on some red kryptonite because i love how he acts on it he just doesnt care and i think those are good episodes. Lana is not gonna die, the producers aren't ready to kill her off, she's part of the reason for the success of the show. Remember the truck that went by just before the explosion. She planned it to make it look like she died so that people won't try to hunt her down and then she can live another identity. Kinda hard as a Luthor so she will be found out. Maybe not right away in the first ep in the new season but eventually will re-appear.

For possible actresses to play the role of Kara, I think a less high-profile one would be appropriate. My top four are: 1)Ashley Peldon, 2) Larisa Oleynik, 3) Madeline Zima, 4) Chyler Leigh. Chyler Leigh may not be available since she's going to be playing Meredith Grey's half-sister on Grey's Anatomy this coming season. According to IMDB.com, the other three don't seem to be working on any TV projects and have not been on Smallville.

All I know is that if Lana Lang is no longer on Smallville there really is no reason to watch. We all love to watch the Clana Drama.

Lana can't die off of Smallville! She is so beautiful and this will only make Clark feel guilty, since he thought if Lana knew his secret, she would be killed. I think she planned the explosion to get away from Lex. Chloe can't die either! She is so smart and she helps Clark figure out all of the "meteor mysteries" in Smallville. She is his 'right-hand lady'!

I think batmans birth should be on the 7th season but this ninja needs to be chinnese to make it all real the story of batman should be past down down to bruce wayne by this chinnese man as his tutorer after his parents are killed.. now that would sky rocket the ratings on your show

Hey supergirl is going to be sensational in season 7 but this doesnt neccesarly mean she has to be BLONDLE bend the rules alittle get some who can fit the paper plus this is smallville where it all started, like bart he is supposed to be flash end up being some one else...I thingk.. oooh I take that back get the blondy from heroes yeah the chearleader that would be off the chain she should play the role of SPG plus she looks hot in that skirt..chloe must continue in the show because clark looks like he will downfall with out his sidekick and as for lana she needs to die already that way clark can become who he was destine to be anyways lana is the main reason why he has transformed..cant wait for new season to start

Well I think that Lana needed to die because she was just a pain and could not handel the truth even if it samked her in the face.Now I think that with Supergirl in the show Clark better find his inner Kryptonian strenghth and not be so soft.Now I hope the little kid stuff is over and the real drama begins

Well i think season 7 will be good, I hope Lana is dead because she just needed to go. But we all know she's not:( Hopefuly Chole will live and adding supergirl might not be so bad. And you really cant compire the superman movies to the show because Smallville as already changed so many things in the superman Mythos it should be considered its own entity.

we all know that lana escaped in that white car at the last second to probably fake her death .. and she will probably come back in like some later season after clark has learned how to fly. Hopefully clark will dump lana for the supergirl with less drama

Lana should be written off for awhile. Looks like Chloe's dead, really dumb way for her to die. I guess a part of her is now in Lois, which could explain why Lois becomes a better reporter and eventually falls for Clark.

As for Supergirl, that's SICK! Either Eliza Dushku or Megan Fox would spice up the role.

I would like to suggest Jessica Biel as Supergirl becauseshe has the body & personality........anybody seen Blade 3 (Trinity)? Its awesome!!!!!! Jessica is the right one to be Supergirl.......

The last season finale is very exciting & interesting. It left me hanging because i dont know if who's really dead. I dont want Lana to die because she's the one for clark and same as cloe because she's his bestfriend. I'm just wondering when season 7 is going to start because i cant wait!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lana is in the 3rd movie.. Clark saves her son from some wheat chopping machine (not a farmer obviously). So it would be kinda hard to watch the writers change the movie so much by killing her off. I also believe it was planned by her to get away from lex possibly even with help from Oliver Queen or even Lionell.

I think it would be cool to have super girl around it will ad another important charater to the series. I mean Clark has lost so many people important to him. Chole was the only person he put his trust in to besides a few other people. Lana is the love of Clark's life and it would be nice to see them together with nothing holding them back. And Loinel can just go die.

Joseph, I completely agree. Season six really screwed with our present characters, leaving inconsistencies in motive and personality as well as from what I hear, some really confounded actors. Before we get a whole new cast, fix the old one first! Talk about putting salt in open wound...

Uh... correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Clark meet 'Kara' at the end of Season 3? Sure, it was really a shop-lifter that Jor-El had tricked, but you'd think Clark would learn not to trust strangers claiming to be Kara from Krypton...

I think having Supergirl is awesome. However, I gotta agree. What's the point? Clark will be cool, and non-whinning for half of the season, and once Lana comes back (she should have just died for real), he'll return to mopey Clark again.

This is just another season of GreenArrow-ville. More sidelined Clark and less time for Chloe and Lex. All the while the show waits until KK is done with her movie and it's another season wasted because as soon as Lana returns absolutely NOTHING that happened before that point will matter. Season 7 is already a bust because the show runners have decided that their original characters are too boring to write for if Lana isn't around. Therefore they add unneccesary characters and hope people will tune in and not mind that we're not going to be seeing the journey of Kara becoming Supergirl, while Clark still acts like a 15 year old twit over Lana and losing her. And neither Chloe nor Lex will fare any better.

I'm very excited about the upcoming season. Kara will make a wonderful additon. Clark needs a Kryptonian to guide him into adulthood. Clark cannot stay in Smallville forever, crying over Lana and doing chores on the farm. I hope they bring back Chloe. She was a great sidekick! Lana I could do without, even though I did like that she was getting less whiney. She needs to die so Clark can toughen up and move on. Give the Justice League their own show. That would be much better than a couple guest apperances.

This news isn't as bad as I thought it would be. I was hoping that it would be announce season 7 was it's last. *sigh*

Anyways, I'm not sure how I feel about this. The last thing this show needs it another person that is not already in their main cast. They're bringing Jimmy for 13, the Editor, and now Supergirl? They couldn't even work out Green Arrow without Clark getting his time cut significantly. Seriously Goughlar, fix the fucking characters that you already have BEFORE bringing in new ones.

Oh I would love her to join the cast but why the name Kara didnt supergirl have like 2 names? I hope they pick someone good to play her.
