CW Launch Party Pics (And Lots of Them)!

Erica DuranceWe've got pics from The CW launch party in Los Angeles! You'll see stars like Terry Crews, Erica Durance (right), Jared Padalecki, Chelsea, Robin, and Melissa R. from Pussycat Dolls Present, Tyler James Williams, Tichina Arnold, Ray Wise, and more! Jason C. interviewed many of the CW stars at the party, so we'll be posting chats with them very soon. For now, enjoy the pics, and keep checking back -- we're adding more daily.

A few tidbits: the cast of Everybody Hates Chris is AWESOME -- we'd love to hang out with them on the set sometime. It's got to be hard to keep a straight face with the jovial Terry Crews, hilarious Tichina Arnold, and straight man Tyler James Williams around.

We got some juicy updates from fan favorites Chelsea and Melissa R. of Pussycat Dolls Present (and yes, we made them sing for us). Both girls were touched when they heard how much love they got here on the Source in the spring. Plus, Robin Antin revealed what's new about Season Two of PCD Present.

Erica Durance shared some Smallville scoop, Amy Pietz talked about Aliens in America's controversial nature, and Ray Wise dished on his devilish ways on Reaper. Oh, and we chatted with Stevie Ryan and Tanika Ray of Online Nation and CW Now, respectively, to find out what those new Sunday shows have to offer.

Check out the pics and tell us what you think!

Pussycat Dolls: Dawn Explains It All

Dawn Ostroff
Dawn Ostroff is getting more flak for the news that not only is Asia not joining PCD, but also that she was under no obligation to do so—and that the group was under no obligation to take her. According to Buddy TV, one critic asked point-blank why anyone should bother to watch the show when the prize is meaningless. Ouch.

Here’s Dawn’s response: “Sometimes the winners [on this type of reality show] aren't the ones that have the big fame. It's the runners-up that have the fame,” she said. “There's no guarantee for how any of this will turn out.

“What the participants get is exposure,” she continued. “What participants get is to genuinely go into an experience where the experience is very pure. At the end of the day you can't make anybody do anything, but you've given them an opportunity. If the program is entertaining and it's fun or it's engaging in some way, that's what our responsibility is.”

Some of us might argue about how “pure” any entertainment PCD might provide would be, but we can kind of see her point. In competitions like this, the journey—or at least the episodes where we get to see pretty people act badly towards each other—is as important as the destination.

What do you think? Do you agree with The CW’s rationale that as long as we were entertained, it doesn’t matter if the winner joins the group? Or does this call the whole show into question for you?

Pussycat Dolls: Asia on Her Own

Asia's on her ownAn Hartford Courant article talks about the state of The CW and what’s coming up next season, but what really caught our eye was this comment from Dawn Ostroff: "She decided to do a solo career.”

The “she” in question is Asia Nitollano, winner of last season’s Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for the Next Doll. Guess she wasn’t that interested in joining the group after all, was she? And according to Ostroff, she didn’t have to be. The president of The CW tells the Courant that “the winner was never obligated contractually to join the group.”

Seriously?

Other tidbits from the article:

-- The new Pussycat Dolls show will be about creating a new girl band. Hence the title "The Pussycat Dolls Presents: Girlicious." Are you more or less likely to watch now that you know the winner won’t be in the Dolls?

-- The judges for the show that wavers between guilty pleasure and reality train wreck, "Crowned: The Mother of All Pageants," will feature judges Shanna Moakler (former beauty queen and ex-wife of Blink 182’s Travis Barker), Carson Kressley (the Queer Eye fashion guy) and Cynthia Garrett (“television personality.”)

Exclusive Video Interview: Pussycat Doll Winner Asia

Brand-new Pussycat Doll Asia's got a sleek new look -- check out her post-win video interview.

Pussycat Dolls: Congratulations, Asia!

Asia, winner of Search for the Next Doll

So it's official! Asia is the next Pussycat Doll. Congrats, Asia! Are you happy she won?

We have to admit, we're a bit surprised -- and from the looks of last week's poll, so are many of you. Most of you expected Melissa R. to win -- and many were hoping for Chelsea. But Asia's always been a serious contender. She may not have Chelsea's voice, but she definitely has the moves and the 'tude that Robin wants for a PCD. She did a great job on her solo performance (although it's hard to compare an uptempo tune to the ones that Chelsea and Melissa R. performed. We wish that all three would've performed the same song).

All season Asia's been one of the top performers. She's sailed through each week with lots of praise from the judges. Some of you weren't such fans of her picky eating habits (she's a strictly burgers 'n' fries kind of gal) or her drama a few episodes back. But you can't deny that the girl's got personality. And personality's something that's really important to the Pussycat Dolls.

We do think Chelsea had the best backstory (former overweight girl morphs into seriously glam, bangs-sporting performer), and it would've been cool to see her win, but Asia really does make the most sense. We could see Chelsea going solo and focusing more on her singing, since that's her strength. We'd buy her CD right now, if she were to put one out! And Melissa R.? Same thing. We adored her, too, and we think she'll be successful in another girl group OR solo.

But for now, it's all about Asia! Clearly, she's pretty polarizing -- you either love her or hate her. So what about you? Do you agree with the judges' decision? Are you excited to see Asia in the PCD? And for you Chelsea and Melissa R. fans, what do you hope they do next?

Confirmed: A Second Season of Pussycat Dolls Reality!

Melissa R., Chelsea, and Asia

Those of you who watched our Robin Antin/Mikey Minden video interview below already had a clue about this, but now we can tell you it's official. The producers of Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for the Next Doll have just announced that casting for a new Pussycat Dolls reality show will begin with a six-city tour beginning in Nashville on May 9. The casting team will also host auditions in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami and Houston.

We don't have a lot more information yet, but we're pleasantly surprised to hear that there will indeed be another season! We'd kind of assumed this was it -- how many new PCD members can there be? But we're not totally sure if this will be a competition for a new member. All we know is that Robin and Mikey will be back (love them!) and, as Robin promises in her interview, there will be sexy girls and lots of dancing. And really, what more do you need to know?

Planning on auditioning? Will you be tuning in to Season Two? Tell us what you think of this new Pussycat Dolls development!

Pussycat Dolls' Robin Antin and Mikey Minden Spill Finale Scoop

We're counting down the minutes until tonight's Pussycat Dolls finale. The dancing. The singing. Oh, and the drama (it looks like Melissa R. and Asia will face off!).

Our video interview with PCD's Robin Antin and Mikey Minden is helping us get through the final hours. Check out what they had to say about tonight's finale:

Pussycat Dolls' Melissa S. Video: "It's Disappointing"

Melissa S. talks about her elimination and how she thought she gave one of her best performances!

Pussycat Dolls: Down to the Final Three

Melissa R. gets into the grooveWere we the only ones not surprised to see Melissa S. go home? It was almost like she was asking for it this week -- saying Chelsea deserved to go home in her mock media interview (ouch) and using that annoying, "please forgive me" baby voice one too many times. Will you miss Melissa S.?

Besides, we would've thrown pillows at our TV if Melissa S. went home before Chelsea. Where would this show be without Chelsea's narration and Chelsea's struggles? We almost broke down with her when she called her dad in tears and he helped her feel better.

The girls all attempted a Secret commercial, but only Asia really rocked it. Melissa S., with her Axe body spray background, should've done better, we think. It was surprising to see Asia, who usually seems kind of annoyed or bored, come out of nowhere with a bright and winning commercial. She definitely deserved to win.

We liked Asia more and more last night. Not only did she seem more pleasant, but it was really nice of her to pitch in and help Chelsea with her dancing (notice Melissa S. totally would NOT help). Did last night turn you into a bigger Asia fan?

The solo song challenges were tough, because the songs were all over the place. How can you compare Norah Jones to Christina Aguilera? Yes, the Norah Jones song is a good one... for listening to on a rainy Sunday afternoon under blankets while sipping a mug of hot cocoa. It's NOT a song that you'd ever hear the Pussycat Dolls sing, so we feel like it wasn't that fair to give it to Melissa S. And even Chelsea, who can usually do a fantastic Christina impression, wasn't totally on with her song last night. Melissa R. and Asia fared better.

What'd you think of last night's episode? Who do you WANT to win it all? Who do you THINK will win it all? We can hardly wait for the finale next week!

Pussycat Dolls: A Return to Burlesque Roots

Burlesque practice

Bathtub burlesque dancing! Missing boob pads! An abundance of catty comments! This is why we watch Pussycat Dolls. A recap:

Mikey bugged Melissa R. about not wearing her boob pads to dance practice. Wait, she has to wear them to practice? Then Mikey told us that having bigger boobs would make him feel more feminine -- you know, if he had them at all. Oh, Mikey... you're so endlessly quotable. What do you think of Mikey?

This scene led us to the Melissa R. confessional -- she's so worried about what her parents think. She just wants them to be proud! But things are getting kind of sexy, and now she's worried. Melissa R., we love you, but you're just figuring out NOW that this is a group about sex? What tipped you off: the garters, the thigh-high boots, or the pole dancing you learned at practice? Melissa R. is definitely one of the best of the bunch, but sometimes her innocence makes her seem even younger than 18.

The girls were told that only four out of the five remaining finalists would get a chance to perform with the real Pussycat Dolls on stage. Last minute, Robin decided that NEITHER Chelsea nor Anastacia would perform. That left the two Melissas and Asia to hit the stage with the PCDs while Chels and Anastacia hung out in the bus (in an edit that made Chelsea look like the girl that won't. shut. up.). What'd you think of the decision to leave those two out?

Melissa S. let some passive-aggressive comments slip about Chelsea's comparative lack of talent, effectively pissing Chelsea off (and rightfully so!) and stirring up a little drama. Chelsea, already pissed that she didn't get to perform with the group, jumped on that and called Melissa S. out on it. Melissa S. is totally annoying us. Once again she's in the bottom two, yet she feels the need to rip on Chelsea? We say dancing can be taught (and Chelsea is proving that every week), but a gorgeous voice is something you're born with. And Melissa S., no matter HOW hard she practices, is never going to sing like Chelsea. We bet she's gone next week. Whose side are you on?

After the PCD performance, it was time for a return to the burlesque roots of the Pussycat Dolls. Robin worked with the girls on steamy classics like "Fever" and "Big Spender." Somehow, Chelsea spent most of her time on a swing, much to the annoyance of Melissa S. Whatever, Melissa S. You were in a bathtub half the time, and you totally dropped your mike during performance. We're over your catty comments!

At the performance, Asia's facial expressions got the judges on her side, but Ron wasn't a fan of her vibrato and off-key singing (of course, Ron never has much good to say about any of the girls). Everyone loved Melissa R., and she was safe anyway. Chelsea's phenomenal singing once again helped her to sail through. Bottom two? Anastacia and Melissa S.

Well, was it even a question? If you end up in the bottom two with Melissa S., it means you're going home. The girl's untouchable somehow. We feel like Robin gets a kick out of scaring her into better performances. So it didn't surprise us too much when Anastacia, with her Shakira-esque mane and plates o' cauliflower and broccoli, was sent home. Will you miss Anastacia?

Other random thoughts from the night:

What must have been running through Mark McGrath's mind when he narrated the lead-in to the Caress Beauty and the Beast fairytale? Is the estrogen suffocating him yet? And then, what's this? There's Addison from Grey's Anatomy (Kate Walsh) narrating the fairytale. Okay, she's awesome, but it was still a little weird to see her popping up in the "Beast's" mansion. It was a Dancing With the Stars spoof inside a Caress commercial inside a Pussycat Dolls episode... our heads are now spinning. Too much thought given to a commercial! Moving on...

So it's down to the final four. Who's your pick to win it all? Who do you want to go home next week? Tell us what you think!

Pussycat Dolls' Mariela On Her Singing, Her Makeover, and Why Latinas are Sexy

Missing Mariela already? Then check out these new video interviews we scored with the hot dancer who went home this week on Pussycat Dolls. She even has a message en español for you Spanish speakers -- and a mini salsa lesson, too!

Pussycat Dolls: Mariela Hangs Up Her Boa

Pussycat doll hopefuls

This week was all about the singing, so it was Chelsea's turn to shine… and Mariela's turn to flop. We'll miss her sexy moves and fiery spirit, but we won't miss her weak , flat singing voice. She was never the strongest singer, but it really showed next to Chelsea's stunning, Aguilera-esque vocals during their rendition of "I Turn to You."

So what'd you think of the crazy Vegas challenge? Okay, we can buy that the Pussycat Dolls might need to make last-minute changes to their routines… but come on! They'd never have to learn a routine AND do their own hair and makeup on a moving bus. Like Top Model, this show's challenges have gone from realistic to ridiculous… but that doesn't mean we don't enjoy watching the girls scramble to get their act together under major time constraints. How funny were their wobbly dance moves on the bus?

The episode was edited to make us think self-conscious Anastacia was on her way out, but it seemed too obvious. Also, memo to reality show producers: taking a girl who's NOT IN ANY WAY OVERWEIGHT, playing up her insecurities, and showing her stuffing her face every five minutes has been done before (see Anchal, America's Top Model, Cycle 7). Okay, yeah, maybe Anastacia is a little heavier than twiggy Asia and Melissa R. – but she is NOT FAT. She can eat her crème brulee and still rock her performance in a skintight gold dress. In fact, we wish she'd embrace her lovely curves instead of letting Mikey and Robin's comments psyche her out. Should Anastacia be worried that her figure will hurt her in the competition?

Meanwhile, we got a glimpse of Asia's whiny side. The lunch wasn't good enough for her (too healthy!). Vocal lessons didn't go her way (too critical!). She misses her daughter (reality show cliché #25 is tears over the baby left at home – can we hook Asia up with Renee from Top Model so they can lament together?). Enough! Asia's good, but she's not THAT good. She might be safe for a few more weeks == Lil' Kim adores her, after all. But eventually, this diva behavior's going to catch up with her. She's not competing for to be a solo act a la Beyonce or Mariah. She's competing to be part of a group, and something tells us that the current Pussycat Dolls aren't going to be too keen on having a constant complainer join the group. Sounded like Chelsea (who's looking more glam each week, don't you think?) has had enough already! Are you annoyed with Asia's complaining?

Now, a brief check-in with the two Melissas. Melissa S. shone this episode, winning the Vegas challenge and automatically sailing through to next week. Is she really improving, or did she just get lucky? We saw barely anything of Melissa R., but that's probably because she's one of the strongest all-around performers and hasn't been at risk of going home yet. Which Melissa is your favorite?

So, tell us what you think! Which duet was the best: "I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing" (Asia/Melissa R.), "I Turn to You" (Chelsea/Mariela), or "Un-Break My Heart" (Anastacia/Melissa S.)? Which individual performance blew you away? Who's going to be the next PCD… and who's lucky she's still around? Discuss!

Sisely Speaks!

Eliminated Pussycat Doll hopeful Sisely Treasure (what a name, huh?) speaks about her experience on the show. Find out whose elimination shocked her the most and which of the remaining girls she thinks might win it all!

Just added: Sisely discusses drama on the set, who she thinks could win it all, and what she's up to now!

Pussycat Dolls: So Long, Sisely!

After her close save last week, it wasn't too much of a surprise to see Sisely go home last night on Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for the Next Doll. The girl can rock, but Robin thought she was more of a solo act than a future Pussycat Doll. What do you think? Were you surprised she went home?

Now, what about the other girls? Mariela steamed up the room with her sexy and creative dance and won safety at elimination time. Not that she would've been eliminated anyway! We see her going far in this competition.

Robin LOVES Asia, almost to the point of never finding a flaw in the girl's moves. But Sisely wasn't a fan, saying that Asia dances like a drag queen. What do you think? Is Sisely right, or was she just jealous? After all, she's the one who was sent packing -- maybe she needed to learn something from Asia!

Okay, in what universe is Melissa S. NOT sexy!? That's the thing about this show... sometimes we totally agree with the judges, and sometimes we wonder if we're watching the same performances they are. If anyone seems slightly awkward in her own skin, it's Chelsea (but we love Chelsea, so we're biased and we find it kind of charming). But Melissa S.!? What do you think -- is she sexy or too girl-next-door?

Chelsea surprised us by strutting her stuff during the group performance. She seems to be improving steadily each week and could be a real contender for the PCD crown (er, boa). But don't count Melissa R. out. She had a choreography goof during her group's performance, but it was minor, and everything else she has is the total package: the look, the moves, and the voice.

What'd you think of last night's PCD? Will you miss Sisely's pouty rocker ways? Who's your pick to go next -- and to win it all? Tell us in the comments!

Pussycat Dolls: Did Jaime Deserve to Go?

Wow! Last night's Pussycat Dolls episode had all but written in stone that Sisely would go home. We saw her freaking out during voice training, yelling at Chelsea during dance practice, and ranting/stressing during about twenty times' more voiceovers than the other girls combined. In reality TVland, isn't a lot of camera time directly proportional to your likelihood of going home?

Not so for the Pussycat Dolls! After all Sisely's airtime and criticism, it was Jaime who had to hang up her boa as the other girls got weepy. We thought Jaime showed a lot of improvement over the past few weeks, so we were surprised to see her go. But Robin likes Sisely because she's got a certain something. Moral of the story? If you want to be a Pussycat Doll, you're better off pitching fits and screwing up a la Sisely (because at least you'll get noticed) than doing everything right and just fading into the background a la Jaime. Do you think Jaime deserved to go?

Well, she may have stuck around this week, but we're pretty sure Sisely's not going to win this thing. We're down to seven, but we can already see the final two being Melissa R. and Asia. They hardly get any criticism, and everyone loves Melissa R. (as proven by our poll last week, when she topped your list of favorites). What do you think? Of course, there could still be a lot of surprises along the way...

What'd you think of last night's episode? Tell us!

Update: Brittany talks to TVGuide.com -- and calls Mikey a nut!
