It seems more and more kids these days are suffering from allergies, and pediatricians often tell women with a family history of food allergies to avoid things like nuts, eggs, and cow's milk while breastfeeding. Well that may be changing.
According to the American Academy of Pediatrics breast feeding helps prevent baby's allergies, but there's no good evidence to suggest that women should avoid certain foods during pregnancy. Soy formula for babies is probably ok, and there's no reason to delay the introduction of solid foods to your baby longer than six months after birth. Having said that if you have a significant family history for allergies, you want to speak to your pediatrician about this report before introducing any foods to your child.
In other news, you've got a really good reason to get to the gym.
That's right, if i can't convince you to go to the gym to help your heart, lower your cholesterol & even improve your mood. How about better sex!?
According to a new readers digest poll, losing weight seems to be quite the aphrodisiac. And you don’t have to lose much. Even a slight amount of weight loss can lead to more confidence and less inhibition. Even among people who were really overweight, losing as much as ten percent of their body weight made a huge difference.
Who was more concerned about their bodies? Men or women?
The numbers were similar for both sexes. 45% of men and 46% of women surveyed thought that losing weight would improve their sex life. 42% of men said that they would go shirtless outside of their own home, and 26% of women who are overweight said they would rather eat bugs than let their partner watch them walk out of a well lit bedroom naked for fear of a rear "view,” but interestingly there was not a huge gap between men and women when it came to body image.

1. Angelo from Phillipsburg, NJ asks: What's a good way of getting the daily requirements of fruits and vegetables?
Angelo, you want to eat three to five vegetables a day and two to four servings of fruit a day. To do that the best way is to eat them in their whole form the way the grow in nature. I'm not a big fan of juicers because they strip away fiber, and i also don't go for those vegetable drinks because they're often high in sodium. So here's a tip - throw away the cookies and chips and keep a big bowl of fruit out on the kitchen table. If someone wants a snack, grab an apple or pear or orange. And when it comes to veggies - remember the rainbow. Keeping color on your plate at every meal will help make sure you're getting your vegetables.
2. Rita from Newark, NJ asks: Is it true that drinking a lot of water improves your skin? Why?
Rita, your skin needs moisture from the inside and out to look it's best. In fact, one of the ways doctors check for dehydration is to check skin turgor... To make sure you're getting enough you don't really have to drink eight, eight ounce glasses of water a day. If you're healthy just make sure that you're drinking enough to make your urine light yellow in color. If it's clear, you're drinking too much & if it's dark, you're not drinking enough.
3. Carl from New Jersey asks: Is this year flu protected by the flu vaccination issued?
Carl, according to the latest report from the centers for disease control and prevention, which tracked flu activity during Christmas week influenza activity is up in the united states. So far, there have been 79 different strains of flu identified. Most seem to be covered however experts say it's still too early in the flu season to determine which strain of the virus will predominate or how well the vaccine will match with circulating strains. By the way, if you haven't gotten your flu shot, it's not too late.
