So, the big question that will probably have to get answered by our stellar judicial system will be can Apple beat NYC?! Coming upon a map of our tri-state area on the wall in our newsroom, and seeing me notice, he immediately launched into the lesson, "...and back in the ice age, glaciers slid down from the Arctic and cut the valley that we now know as the Long Island Sound dumping their residue creating Long Island." I said to him that even today Long Island still seems to be a dumping ground. Eddie's reply? He said he believed that the mafia has always been quite adherent to history & tradition, and the whole thing made sense to him.

Eddie also talked about his show The Riches. The second season premieres Tuesday night on FX. In his new movie, The Take, he stars with Rosie Perez as a man who incurs a brain injury through a gunshot wound to his head & has to deal with the changes. The other day, Rosie stopped by and told us that the low budget movie filmed on llocation in East LA had to endure gang threats & a gunfight - this morning, John corroborated that it was indeed pretty bad, and he added that at one point, Rosie had to do her own hair & make-up. A new study finds drinking too much alcohol can increase a woman's risk of breast cancer.

According to the report even moderate alcohol consumption, defined as one or two drinks per day, increases the risk... And the more a woman drank, the higher her risk. Compared to women who did not drink at all, those who drank just one or two drinks a day had a 32 percent increased risk of estrogen and progesterone receptor positive breast cancer... And women who had three or more glasses of alcohol daily had a 51% increased risk.

This morning, they played our Morning News version of the Newlywed Game, and we found out a little about this model couple. Sure they both couldn't remember where they had their first kiss, but the cracks in the armor began to show soon after that when Deion claimed there was no sport or game that Pilar could outdo him in, she named swimming & he quickly agreed. Then, the couple seemed to disagree on the dinner that Deion might cook for Pilar - she said it would have to be PBJ or soup, he claimed it would be "something Asian" but then admitted since he doesn't know how to turn on his stove, he'd have to "hire someone" to do the cooking for him. Saying that she wasn't aware of any booing for Heather Mills during the Miss USA pageant, Crystle Stewart, the newly crowned Miss USA 2008, said that she wasn't on stage at the time and really wasn't even aware of the entire Heather Mills booing controversy that seems to have sprung up in the wake of the Miss USA pageant. Crystle, formerly Miss Texas, said that Ms. Mills was very nice to her and congratulated her on her victory.

For premature babies. Often survival is based on the number of weeks that baby was in the womb. But now doctors say other factors like the sex of the baby and an important treatment given shortly before birth can also make a difference. They say baby girls do better than boys.. And if the child gets lung maturing steroids before birth it can be the equivalent of an extra week in the womb.

Health officials say this is the worst match since 1997. Because of that mismatch, even if you got the shot, you weren't well protected against this year's flu. FACT! But for the baking soda part - not the vinegar, you don't really need vinegar. If you combine some baking soda with a little water and form it into a paste it can help relieve the itching of a mosquito bite. The New York City regulation requiring restaurants to post the calories of foods on their menus is now in effect.

All chains with 15 restaurants or more across the country have six weeks to comply. Offenders will be subject to fines of up to $2000. Food is considered to be high in calories when one serving has more than 400 calories.

400 calories a serving doesn't sound like a lot.

The 15 year-old teen sensation performed 2 songs for us this morning, I'm Grown & Let Me Be Your Angel. Here's a little history, and believe me, at 15, it really is just a little history, but it certainly is impressive.

She was born in the Bronx and is the middle child of 10 children. In February 2003, on her fourth Star Search appearance, she won the Grand Champion title in the junior singer division, becoming the only performer in Star Search history to receive perfect five scores on all of her appearances.

Last week I told you about how the government is concerned about a chemical called bisphenol-A or BPA in plastics.

Now TOYS "R" US says it will phase out baby bottles containing BPA. They plan to have all baby products with BPA off the shelves by the end of next year. The national toxicology program says there is some concern about bisphenol-A because studies in rats show it can cause problems with behavior, puberty and possibly precancerous changes in the prostate and breast.

How common is BPA?

He's been in so many classic films, Full Metal Jacket, Married To The Mob & Vision Quest, just to name a few. This morning, Matthew was here to promote his newest work, I Think I Thought, is a 7-minute short narrative that he calls a "wonder of editing."

The film is about Modine who plays Joe whose life threatens to come apart when he begins thinking too much: at home, at work, on the train, in the bookstore. One thing that Matthew is not thinking too hard about is speaking at his son's college commencement ceremony later this month, he said he wouldn't cry, but he did get a little choked up on our set while talking about watching his son grow into a man before his eyes, check it out.

MillionTreesNYC is a citywide, public-private program with an ambitious goal: to plant and care for one million new trees across the City's five boroughs over the next decade. By planting one million trees, New York City can increase its urban forest — our most valuable environmental asset made up of street trees, park trees, and trees on public, private and commercial land — by an astounding 20%, while achieving the many quality-of-life benefits that come with planting trees.

The City of New York will plant 60% of trees in parks and other public spaces. The other 40% will come from private organizations, homeowners, and community organizations. This week marks the one year anniversary since the initiative launched.

If you're like most people you probably know someone who's had laser eye surgery and swears about how great it is, but you may not know about some of the unlucky few whom have had life changing side effects. Now the FDA is looking into lasik complaints 10 years after the procedure was approved. The government is pairing with eye surgeons for a major study expected to enroll hundreds of lasik patients to try to better understand who has bad outcomes and exactly what their complaints are. More than 7,500,000 people have had the procedure so far.

How big are those risks? And what are some of the side effects?

1. FACT OR QUACK: Put vapor rub on feet to stop coughing

QUACK. And this should serve as a warning for people who get all their medical information from the internet. This rumor started when an email circulated that said the national research council of Canada did a study which found that applying Vicks vapor rub to your child's feet when they have a cough relieves the cough 100 percent of the time. The NRC claims they never conducted such research and claim the entire story is bogus.

A troubling trend is putting mothers and their newborn babies at risk.

The number of pregnant women with pre-existing diabetes has more than doubled in seven years and the number of diabetic teenagers giving birth has increased fivefold.

Being pregnant and having diabetes increases the risk of miscarriage and stillbirth especially if women don't have their blood sugar under control. Their babies also have a higher chance of being born with birth defects.

Can they explain this trend?

Do you remember that study that found people can be fat and fit at the same time?

Well now researchers are challenging that idea saying that being active and overweight can lower heart disease risk, but it doesn't eliminate it completely. A new study of nearly 39,000 women with an average age of 54 found that compared with normal-weight active women, the risk for developing heart disease was 54% higher if they were overweight and active, and 87% higher if they were obese and active.

But those numbers had to be better than women who didn't exercise at all.

It's official. Fast food restaurants and chains with more than 15 stores nationwide must publish the calorie counts of their meals in plain view where customers can see them.

Yesterday a court rejected the restaurant association's bid to suspend the measure. The new regulation is backed by city health officials and Mayor Bloomberg and has been in the pipeline for nearly two years. The court gave the green light after the city agreed to hold off issuing fines until July 18th. That gives the court time to rule on a lawsuit filed by restaurant owners.
