Jill Nicolini & Anthony Cumia: 'Officially Smitten'
Ah, it looks like love does bloom in the springtime. In a match made in the media, CW11's very own Jill Nicolini may have found the love of her life—over the airwaves. If you've been listening to the events unfold over the last couple of weeks on the Opie & Anthony radio show, you'll know that Jill seems to have fallen for shock jock Anthony Cumia. And we hear Anthony's quite enamored with his new gal pal as well. Who wouldn't be?
We talked with everyone's favorite traffic reporter and her new squeeze to get the dirt on their unexpected whirlwind romance. What started as little more than an on-air joke two weeks ago has blossomed into a serious relationship very quickly. The normally outspoken Anthony is surprisingly laid back and sounds genuinely sincere when he proclaims, "We are officially smitten with each other!"
That's not to say Anthony wasn't intimidated by Jill when the prospect of the two of them dating presented itself. "I didn't call. I'm a wuss and texting is a lot safer. I could take rejection through text a lot easier than I can through a call. So I texted and we set something up to go out."
The first date for the self-professed "Long Island power couple" was more of a marathon, clocking in at a whopping 35 hours and including a trip to the vet to have Jill's cats fixed, an event that left Anthony feeling queasy. And over the span of about a week, the couple has already spent time with each other's parents, attended a christening together, and introduced their families to each other at a Memorial Day barbecue.
"We immediately hit it off but there was one awkward moment. I had my navigation system on outside a restaurant and I had the volume turned all the way down. So I turned the volume up to hear the navigation and instead of the navigation the radio was on and it was on an REO Speedwagon song. It was 'I Can't Fight This Feeling.'" [sings]
On their second date, the couple dined out at F.H. Riley's in Huntington but didn't find much time for eating. "You know how it is in the beginning. You don't want to eat. You're just so in awe of looking and talking and talking... and kissing," says Jill in a particularly tender moment.
The couple's relationship is still very much in its infancy, however. When asked about a photo taken at the barbecue where the couple is holding a small child, Jill takes control of the interview and uses the opportunity to grill Anthony.
"Let's talk about babies! The Anthony I heard on the air didn't like kids. He was scared of kids. How do you feel about kids, Anthony?"
"I just love the little fellas. As many as I can have running around my house, the better."
Searching for a more definitive and perhaps less sarcastic answer, Jill continues, "Hold on. Seriously. Do you want children?" to which Anthony replies succinctly, "Yes, I do."
People have already christened the couple with it's own nickname, Antholini, and there's already a web site of its namesake up and running. "I like to call us Long Island royalty. We're the Brangelina of Long Island," says Anthony.
In talking to them, the pair sounds like they've been together a long time. Anthony sums up their current state of newfound bliss. "We're just laughing our asses off and having fun, definitely thoroughly enjoying each other's company."
And had Jill already caught Anthony's eye before this recent turn of fortune?
"Oh, hell yes. I used to watch Jill [on the CW11 Morning News] and think 'That girl's too attractive to be in the helicopter all the time.'"

Who really cares! Anthony is very funny but do i really want to hear about his love life. Also, they are both old stop saying Jill is hot she looks like she might of been hot when she was in high school. Oh and anthony needs to get a shape up and cut hair jill might mistake him for a brillo pad when she's doing the dishes

Those of us women who are lucky enough to be great looking as well as intelligent really want men who can make us laugh when we dont even feel like smiling...My guess is that Jill has had enough with the metro- over the top insecure "good-looking" men and realizes to be happy, there needs to be more...
