Christine Baranski Loves Broadway On-Stage in 'Boeing-Boeing' and Off-Stage in 'Mamma Mia!'

Christine Baranski is keeping very busy this summer and loving it. "I happen to be in two really feel-good projects. Boeing-Boeing just makes people laugh non-stop for an hour and a half. [...] And of course, Mamma Mia! opens mid-July. And that's another project that just makes people happy," Baranski said to CW11's Emily Frances.

Both the Boeing-Boeing and Baranski are no strangers to Broadway. Baranski, a Buffalo native, got her big break on Broadway in The Real Thing, and later starred in numerous other plays like Lips Together Teeth Apart and Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

Boeing-Boeing is a revival of the French farce that was first produced on Broadway in February 1965. Baranski stars as Bertha, the housekeeper of Bernard (Bradley Whitford), an architect and playboy. Bertha helps him juggle his relationships with three air-hostess fiancées -- Gloria, Gabriella and Gretchen. But she, Bernard and friend Robert have a hard time keeping the three women from discovering each other's relationship with Bernard.

Baranski is also starring in Mamma Mia!, which premires on July 18. This is not the first Broadway-play-to-movie project for Baranski. She has starred in Chicago and How The Grinch Stole Christmas.

Baranski plays Tanya, best friend of Donna (Meryl Streep) whose daughter Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) is getting married and wants her father to walk her down the aisle. But, Sophie has three possible fathers: Bill (Stellen Skarsgard), Sam (Pierce Brosnan) and Harry (Colin Firth).

Christine Baranski is a triple threat. She sings, dances and acts -- and all with extraordinary skill and talent. This thorough-bred actress appeared on TV show favorites like Cybill, Fraiser and Welcome to New York. Her movie career includes Cruel Intentions, Bowfinger and The Bird Cage, in which she starred opposite Robin Williams and Nathan Lane.
