Welcome To The World Of Tomorrow! Larry's Sciencing Away At Rutgers

Actress Missi Pyle On The Great White Way In 'Boeing, Boeing'

Missi Pyle has made her Broadway debut in the musical “Boeing, Boeing,” which is playing at the Longacre Theatre (220 West 48th Street, New York, NY)

Boeing-Boeing is a revival of the French farce that was first produced on Broadway in February 1965. Pyle stars a Gretchen, an air-hostess who is engaged to architect and playboy Bernard. Unbeknownst to her, Bernard has two other fiancées -- Gloria and Gabriella -- who are also air-hostesses. Comedy ensues when Bernard, with the help of his housekeeper Bertha (Christine Baranski) and friend Robert try to keep the three women from finding out about each other.

Pyle also makes a guest appearance as Betty Bee on the TV series Pushing Daisies, whose season premiere is tonight at 8pm on ABC.

Fans will remember Pyle from movies like Charlie and the Chcolate Factory, Bringing Down the House, Big Fish and Harold and Kumar: Escape From Guantanamo Bay.

Pyle is also part of the duo Smith & Pyle. They just released their debut album It's Ok To Be Happy this summer.

Larry's Bringing The Intrepid Back To New York

Actor Ryan Kwanten Stars In HBO's 'True Blood'

Model turned actor Ryan Kwanten plays Jason Stackhouse in HBO's new series True Blood, which airs Sundays at 9pm.

Jason is a construction worker during the day, but at night he's a notorious ladies man. Of the show, HBO states: "Thanks to a Japanese scientist's invention of synthetic blood, vampires have progressed from legendary monsters to fellow citizens overnight. And while humans have been safely removed from the menu, many remain apprehensive about these creatures "coming out of the coffin." Religious leaders and government officials around the world have chosen their sides, but in the small Louisiana town of Bon Temps, the jury is still out."

An Australian-born actor, Kwanten's other acting credits include his role as Jay Robertson in TV's Summerland and ESPN's The Junction Boys. You can catch him in the upcoming film Don't Fade Away, where he stars alongside Mischa Barton (The O.C.), Beau Bridges (My Name Is Earl) and rapper Ja Rule.

'Gossip Girl' Leighton Meester Walks Down The Aisle For A Cause

Actress Leighton Meester plays socialite Blair Waldorf on the CW’s Gossip Girl, which airs Mondays at 8pm. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and she spoke a charity event hosted by the United Nations Development Fund For Women and Safe Horizon.

Meester will be in New York's Union Square Park on today, Thursday, October 2 at 12pm encouraging local residents and notable New Yorkers to take a stand against domestic violence by donating their shoes and walking the runway. The event is part of the Say NO to Violence Campaign. The CW11 Morning News team was happy to donate shoes for the cause.

Meester began her professional acting career in 1999 with a role in an episode of Law & Order. Her big break, though, was in 2004 when she guest starred in HBO's Entourage as singer Justine Chapin.

Gal To Gal Virtual Walk

The CW11's Tamsen Fadel was the emcee for the 2nd Annual Gal To Gal Foundation's Virtual Walk. The foundation helps "grant the wishes and contribute to resources for Stage IV breast cancer patients and their families." The event is in partnership with Design Her Gals.

Gals to Gals hopes to raise $250,000 and participation is easy. When you donate $5 or more to the cause, you can create your own virtual self that will walk across the virtual country.

Once you register, beginning October 1, you will join fellow walkers in virtual Harvard Square in Boston, MA, and will travel all the way to the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, visiting 29 cities along the way. The landscape walkers travel through will change on a daily basis, giving you a reason to return to see where you are walking that day. New walkers will be joining all the time -- sharing their stories and building momentum as more people participate in this innovative fundraising effort.

Robin Dunne Talks About His 'Sanctuary'

Actor and writer Robin Dunne stars as psychiatrist Will Zimmerman in the highly-anticipated SciFi Channel series Sanctuary, which premieres tonight at 9pm.

Sanctuary started in May 2007 as a video series on the web. Becasue of its success and popularity, it was picked up by the SciFi Channel in January 2008. It is the first TV series to shoot "extensively on green screen, using virtual sets and extraordinary visual effects."

According to SciFi, "Sanctuary follows the adventures of the beautiful, enigmatic and always surprising Dr. Helen Magnus (Amanda Tapping), a brilliant scientist who holds the secrets of a clandestine population — a group of strange and sometimes terrifying beings that hide among humans. Along with her new recruit, forensic psychiatrist Dr. Will Zimmerman, her quirky tech wiz Henry (Ryan Robbins) and her fearless daughter Ashley (Emilie Ullerup), Magnus seeks to protect this threatened phenomena as well as unlock the mysteries behind their existence."

National Fire Week at Great Neck, Long Island

The heat is on so stop, drop and roll! Larry was live at the Great Neck Vigilant Fire Department headquarters on Long Island where they are teaching you and training you how to avoid or get out of a home fire. It's National Fire Prevention Week and this year's theme is "prevent home fires."

According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), in 2007, U.S. fire departments responded to 399,000 home structure fires. These fires caused 13,600 civilian injuries, 2,865 civilian deaths, $7.4 billion in direct damage. The Hoff and the volunteers will have a mock home on fire and train how to get you and your family out of a smokey situation.

Rob Brown Wants You To Remember 'The Express'

Actor Rob Brown plays football player Ernie Davis, the the first African-American to win the Heisman Trophy, in the new movie The Express, which premieres on Friday, October 10.

Set in summer 1962, during the civil rights movement, Ernie was riding a wave of success after his star performance for the Syracuse University Orangemen lead to his draft into the NFL. Soon after, though, he was diagnosed with acute monocytic leukemia, an incurable disease. He died at age 23 without ever taking the professional field.

This Harlem-born, Brooklyn-raised actor's other film credits include Finding Forrester, Coach Carter, Take The Lead and Stop-Loss.

Wakeup Workout: OM Yoga

Sarah Trelease of OM Yoga stopped by for today's Wakeup Workout! OM Yoga has partnered with the Libby Ross Foundation and is hosting an October Yoga Challenge for Breast Cancer Awareness.

Challengers take 31 days of yoga classes throughout October at a discounted rate and have the opportunity to raise funds for the fight against breast cancer by collecting sponsors. They're also hosting a Cancer Survivors yoga Teacher Training October 17th-19th.

This specialized training for certified yoga teachers will instruct on how to design a healing class for cancer survivors that addresses physical conditions while giving emotional support. OM designed this teacher training program to meet the needs of breast cancer survivors who are finding so much benefit in our classes by creating a sense of community of like minded women.

OM also provides weekly free classes (Tuesdays at 3:45pm) for breast cancer patients and survivors.

Celebrity moms Ashlee Simpson, Tori Spelling, Angie Harmon and Marissa Jaret Winokur have designed strollers to raise awareness and funds for the CJ Foundation for SIDS, the country’s leading organization for education, research, and support services for families impacted by Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.

Hillis is also invloved with charities such as the Los Angeles Childrens Hospital, Habitat For Humanity, The Jimmie Johnson Foundation and The Hendrick Marrow Program.

TV junkies will remember this New York-born, Massachusetts-raised actor from the short-lived ABC spinoff soap opera Port Charles as Dr. Jake Marshak during the late 1990s.

Olivia Newton-John Promotes Breast Cancer Awareness

Olivia Newton-John is promoting her work for Breast Cancer Awareness Month and "The Liv Experience" with Curves, the largest fitness franchise in the world. Curves co-founder Diane Heavin also joined Newton-John.

The campaign will distribute 1 million Liv Aid units to women. This breast self-exam assists women to exercise breast self-exams correctly. Newton-John has become an advocate of breast cancer awareness and early detection because 16 years ago she was diagnosed with brest cancer after she gave hersself a breast exam. Of her health today she stated, "That I am fine today and stronger than before, I credit to early detection."

Google's 'Mail Goggles' Prevents You From Drunk E-Mailing Your Ex

Google has a new feature that protects you from late-nite yourself.

Designed by Jon Perlow, one of their engineers, Mail Goggles is the latest feature for Gmail users. It helps drunk users save face by requiring them to complete a set of timed math problems in order to send an e-mail.

A play on "beer goggles," Mail Goggles is in its beta stage. To enable this feature, all you have to is activate it in your Gmail settings.

Olympic Gold Medalist Shawn Johnson Raises Breast Cancer Awareness

Shawn Johnson, Olympic gold medal gymnast, joined us today to talk about her involvement with the Frosted Pink With A Twist Campaign, sponsored by Sanofi-Aventis. Her involvement with Frosted Pink With A Twist was inspired by her grandmother, who had both breast and lung cancer.

This 16-year-old Iowa native stands at 4'10" and won four medals in the Beijing Olympic Games: a team silver medal, an all-around silver medal, a floor individual silver medal and a balance beam gold medal.

Actor Tristan Rogers Is Back As Robert Scorpio

Australian-American actor Tristan Rogers reprises his role asRobert Scorpio on the soap opera General Hospital's spinoff Night Shift, which airs on SoapNet on Tuesdays at 11pm.

Robert was originally a character of ABC's soap opera General Hospital. He was presumed dead after her went on a search for his kidnapped wife Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) in South America. Both he and Anna were international spies. Now, he's back, alive but no so well. In his current storyline, he was rescued from a plane crash and just learned he has a brain tumor and colon cancer.

Actress Saoirse Ronan Talks About 'City Of Ember'

Saoirse Ronan,16, plays Lina Mayfleet in the new movie City Of Ember, which premieres this Friday, October 10. She co-stars alongside Tim Robbins, Bill Murray and Harry Treadway.

The film is about an underground city that serves as a sanctuary for humanity, whose liveliness is provided by a generator with a 200-year lifespan. Now at the end of its two century existence, Ember 's lights are fading and civilzation is on the brink of collapse. Teenagers Lina (Ronan) and Doon (Treadway) are on a search for the clues on how to save their city and escape to a new world.

Ronan is an New York-born, Ireland-raised actress who was nominated for an Academy Award for her role as Briony Tallis in the 2007 movie Atonement, which also starred Kiera Knightley (The Duchess, Pirates of the Caribbean).

Comedian Matt Iseman Serves Up 'Sports Soup'

Matt Iseman is a medical doctor turned comedian. And he has a new twice-weekly show Sports Soup, which airs on Tuesday, October 14 on Versus at 10pm.

The show, which will air Tuesdays and Thursdays, will cover everything "from football pre-game shows to mixed martial arts and everything in between, Sports Soup will take viewers around the entire wide world of sports to find the clips that are the most ridiculous, extreme and memorable for all the right and wrong reasons," according to Versus.

A Denver, Colorado native, Iseman is an Ivy League-educated man, who graduated with honors from Princeton University and the Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons, where he recieved his MD. He did his residency and internship at local University of Colorado Hospital for internal medicine. After a short stint as a physician, Iseman moved to Los Angeles and began his stand-up comedy career.
