Learn to Ride: North Rochdale Playground
Saturday, October 4, 2008 from 10am to 1pm
North Rochdale Playground located at Baisley Boulevard & Bedell Street in Queens

Bring your child, a bike, and a helmet for this free, fun event that will teach your child how to ride a two-wheeler using the "balance first" method. To register, download the application from the Bike New York website at www.bikenewyork.org. This class is intended for children five years of age or older.

Soap Box Derby

Westerleigh Park on Staten Island

Do you feel the need for speed? Design, build, and bring your version of the classic soap box race car. Awards will be given for racing, best design and theme in different age categories. Brakes and helmets a must for everyone.

Pick Your Own Pumpkin

October is pumpkin month at the Farm Museum! Enjoy wandering through the planting field to find your favorite pumpkin. The price of pumpkins is based on their size. A fun farm treat for the whole family! Admission to the pumpkin patch is free.

Apple Festival

Queens Farm Museum located at 73-50 Little Neck Parkway in Queens

A large variety of apples, apple products, and freshly pressed cider will be available. The nation's largest apple cobbler will be baked on-site. Enjoy cider pressing demonstrations while learning fun apple facts at this delightful event. Vendors will have a variety of collectibles for sale, food, hayrides, and free children's games will make this event fun for all ages. FREE!

Declare Yourself at Audrey Café & Lounge
W Hotels of New York Team With Declare Yourself to Sign New Yorkers Up to Vote

All New Yorkers who need to register to vote and friends supporting friends registering to vote for the November election are invited to come out before October 10, 2008.

This election season, W Hotels has partnered with Declare Yourself, the national nonpartisan, nonprofit campaign dedicated to empowering and encouraging Americans to register to vote. In fact, W Hotels is Declare Yourself's only hotel partner this election year. In honor of this partnership (and to ensure that all W Hotels of New York loyalists are registered to vote in this November's election), Audrey Café & Lounge at W New York - The Tuscany is hosting an event with Declare Yourself to register New Yorkers.

Specialty $5 cocktails including the Obama Pama (made with PAMA Pomegranate Liqueur) and John 10 Cane Rum Punch (made with 10 Cane Rum) will be served as guests fill out Declare Yourself Voter Registration Forms. In addition, photos from Declare Yourself's new photo campaign shot by David LaChapelle will be on display.

Copies of Declare Yourself: Speak. Connect. Act. Vote., a book with a forward by organization founder, Norman Lear and an introduction by America Ferrera, will also be on sale with proceeds donated back to the organization.
