Tony Bennett Gets In The Holiday Spirit With A Christmas Album and Art Lesson

tony1118.jpg

He has sold more than 50 million records world-wide in his six-decade career and after winning 15 Grammy awards and two Emmys, Tony Bennett shows no signs of stopping. Bennett stopped by the CW11 studio this morning to talk about his first Christmas album in 40 years -- A Swingin' Christmas, which is available in stores now.

Bennett is keeping busy in anticipation of this holiday season. He created a holiday-themed painting of Bloomingdale's store front that has been printed on their holiday shopping bags. The dog in the painting is Bennett's Maltese named Happy.

He has also created a holiday painting that he has allowed the American Cancer Society to print on a holiday greeting card that they sell each year to raise money for cancer research. And if that's all not enough -- you can win a chance to get a personal painting lesson with him
through Bloomingdale's! For more information, visit www.bloomingdalesholidayauction.com.

Bennett is also part of Musicians on Call whose mission of bringing live and recorded music to the bedside of patients in healthcare facilities. For more information, visit www.musiciansoncall.org.

Many years ago, WPIX produced a series of Tony Bennett musical specials that were great. With the station's attempt to re-focus on its history [dropping CW11 in favor of WPIX], it's a shame there was no discussion of these shows.
