Empress Farrah Moans of The Imperial Court of New York stopped by as today's Friday Forecaster. The Imperial Court of New York's mission is to raise funds for organizations, including but not limited to those supporting the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender community; HIV/AIDS services organizations; social service organizations and youth enrichment programs.
The organization's biggest fundraiser of the year is "Night of 1000 Gowns" on March 26th. It will benefit The Ali Forney Center and The Trevor Project to drive awareness. These two organizations support gay youth and help them overcome diversity, being homeless and being bullied.
The event is open to the public and includes dinner, dancing, an open bar and silent auction. 100% of the money raised benefits the two charities.

Marlena Ortiz is a 27-year-old woman, a Brooklyn native, a marketing professional and a cancer survivor. In 2007, Marlena discovered a small lump in her breast. For two years her doctors assured her that it was nothing serious, citing her age and family history as reasons not to be concerned. However, the lump continued to grow, and in May 2009 Marlena received the shock of her life: she had stage 2-breast cancer. Suddenly, at the age of only 25, life as she knew it came to a screeching halt.
Today, Marlena has made a full recovery from breast cancer, but continues to fight back against the disease. She is entering her second year as a Team Leader with the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer in Prospect Park. She walks to raise awareness of the fact that this disease does not discriminate based on age or family history, and she fundraises so that one day there can be a cure.
There are a number of American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer events happening in New York City, Westchester, Long Island and New Jersey on October 17th and 24th.

Actor Mehcad Brooks was here today as our Friday Forecaster. Brooks is from the HBO series True Blood and just started on ABC's new series The Deep End.
Brooks' first big role was in the Disney Channel movie Tiger Cruise along with Heroes babe Hayden Pannetierre. After that he played youthful sociopath Matthew Applewhite on the ABC hit drama Desperate Housewives. He starred in the Valley of Elah and in several episodes of the CW's The Game.
Brooks' Friday forecast calls for a lot of sun with no signs of snow until Monday and Tuesday of next week.

A longtime practitioner and aficionado of Kripalu Yoga, Geoffrey Paul Gordon first began "channeling" Yogi G as a character at the end of 2007.
The comic performance piece which has gained a devoted following in performances in the Hamptons is now in NYC and will play Sunday evenings at Don't Tell Mama, 343 West 46th Street starting April 19th. Performances will then be Sundays, May 17th, June 21st, July 19th and August 30th at 6 PM.

Ketaki Shriram has been crafting compelling stories from the tender age of eight, when she completed her first short story for a local book fair.
Over the next few years her love of writing grew so intense that by age 10 she had completed her first long form fictional story. By 13, she had completed her first novel, Sorceress of the Himalayas, which she had published at age 16. And today was her 17th birthday!
When she is not writing, Ketaki, an outstanding student, is highly active in her high school's student government (as student body president) and is opinion editor on her school newspaper. She is currently working on her next novel.
