Julie checks out a new photo exhibit. In honor of Martin Luther King's birthday and Black History Month, Westwood Gallery in New York City, presents an historic exhibition of photographs chronicling one of the most memorable periods in American history - the Civil Rights movement of the 1960s.

The gallery will highlight significant photos by award-winning photographer Bob Adelman, known for his arresting and memorable images of social and political issues. Adelman's photos of Martin Luther King's “I Have a Dream” speech and those of black protesters being water-hosed in Birmingham, Alabama reflect the photographer’s intense commitment at the time. Fifty-five documentary photographs will be on exhibit, including iconic portraits of Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, Rosa Parks and images of civil and social unrest in the streets of New York, Washington D.C. and the deep South. He is a premiere brick artist for Lego and his work has been featured in ad campaigns, movies, etc. Some of his work are in his studio, but the majority can be seen in museums, stores, art galleries, etc. Lego also holds a competition every year looking for more Lego master builders. On January 1, ESPN Zone in Time Square kicked off a contest giving four local sports fanatics the chance to become the 2008 ‘Ultimate Couch Potato.’ The four competitors, selected from more than 100 hopefuls throughout the Tri-state area, will saddle up in ESPN Zone’s screening room recliners and see who can watch the most continuous hours of televised sports. Participants can order unlimited food and beverages, however they may not sleep or leave their chair and restroom breaks are permitted every eight hours.
